Our main venue for training is the La Trobe University Stadium and Macleod YMCA in Wungan Street, Macleod.  Each team is allocated one training session each week, which is held in the afternoon/evening sometime between Monday – Thursday.   Training nights/times are renegotiated each season and are dependent on venue and coach availability.  Players have the opportunity to nominate their preferred training nights/ times when they register.  Team Coordinators make every effort to ensure that you are placed in a team that trains at a time suitable to you.  Should you nominate to coach a team that your child is playing in, you will have significantly more influence over your child’s training night/time.

Competition Structure

EDJBA competition starts with Under 8’s and continues through to Under 21’s

Competition is run all year round (excluding school holidays) and it is broken into two seasons; Summer and Winter.

The summer season is from October to March (Under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 & 21) and Winter season is from April to September (Under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 & 21).

The first six rounds of each season are ‘grading games’ where the EDJBA adjust teams into grades in order that they play against teams of similar ability.  After round six teams remain in the same grade for the rest of the season. Up until the end of ‘grading games the fixture is released in the week prior the Saturday game, after which, the fixture for several rounds will be posted on the EDJBA website.

The games are played on a Saturday from 8:30am to 9:00pm with the younger age groups generally playing up until the afternoon.

Each game runs for 50 minutes and is always played indoors.

Games are located at various venues; predominantly within the Eastern Suburbs. See Current Venues List

All players and parents must abide by the EDJBA BY-LAWS and Basketball Victoria’s Code of Conduct. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in suspension from the club (in addition to sanctions imposed by an EDJBA Tribunal – should a hearing be conducted).

Parents of players seasonally rotate the role of Team Contact and all families are required to score 2 to 3 games per season.  For more information please refer to ‘Team Contact’ and ‘Scoring’ under the Resources tab on this website.
